Black Hills State University’s Donald E. Young Center offers fantastic fitness facilities with the largest collection of exercise equipment in the region. This sports center also offers a walking track, an aquatic center, certified training services, and fitness classes. The aquatic center has a six-lane, 25-meter pool and a three-lane instructional pool. The American Red Cross offers group swimming lessons. Private lessons are available with prior scheduling. Join CrossFit Aberdeen, the only official CrossFit affiliate in the city, for an intense but motivating workout. Beginner athletes are asked to complete three introductory classes before diving in. Classes are one hour and consist of a warmup, a skill session, explanation, demonstration of a new workout, performing the new workout, and a cool down. All classes are less than twenty people, so everyone gets the individual attention and training needed to succeed. Open gym sessions are also held.
