Spearfish Canyon

When the colors change, the adventure and beauty heightens in Spearfish. Every September and October visitors from around the world come to experience the fall splendor of Spearfish Canyon. High limestone cliffs, waterfalls, towering spruces, Ponderosa pines, aspens, birches, burdocks, and box elders perfectly frame this creek carved gorge making Spearfish a truly awe-inspiring place during the autumn months.

Truly one of the "Must See" drives in all the Black Hills....with Deadwood nearby the Old West history drips from that canyon walls like water after a rain. If you are a Fisherman or just want to pack a picnic lunch and stop at one of the many pull off areas and dangle your feet in the cool spring fed creek this is a place you have to add to your " Must Do" places to go ! The mixture of old growth Fir and Ponderosa pines are truly a sight to behold. Don't miss this wonderful afternoon drive you won't be sorry .

Absolutely beautiful! It was a nice place to get out and take a hike. Some of the paths were a little difficult but was sure worth it to see the awesome waterfalls.
