Black Hills Caverns

2600 Cavern Road

The Caverns were discovered in 1882 by gold  seekers, but the Lakota Indians had found strength in the power of  the calcite crystals centuries before.  Come discover the wonder of the glittering underground world and see its many fantastic animal formations.

You definitely need walking shoes if you take the long route. Tall people should plan on bending over took get through some of the smaller areas. Overall a nice way to send some time in your day. Military personnel get a small discount.

Be ready to walk a bit. But definitely interesting and worth the price.

We took our three children, ages 6 and under. This was seriously the most family friendly cave we have been to. We opted for the shorter tour which was perfect for our two year old, and were greeted at the end with a free crystal mining sandbox experience. The entire building and mining area have undergone a beautiful renovation.
