Pierre Half Marathon

Welcome to our Half Marathon!

We are excited that you have chosen to participate in this beautiful race along the Missouri River. Our Half Marathon will be Saturday, April 29th, 2023 starting at 8:00am.  Our volunteers and sponsors cannot wait to provide you with a memorable experience here in central South Dakota.

This "out and back" course  is a beautiful mix of paved paths and dirt trails all along Missouri river. Part of the run will take place along the historic Lewis and Clark Trail, which was part of the 1804 expedition. The course is primarily flat with a few gradual inclines and declines as it traverses through the visually stunning Pierre area. Participants will start at Steamboat Park. After a short loop through La Framboise Island, racers will head toward Farm Island. Once there, racers turn around and finish the half marathon back at Steamboat park.

During your time in Pierre and Ft. Pierre, take the time to stop at the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce, take an island hike, stroll the pathways and even visit our state Capitol.
